They have become the victor Snow wants them to be.Īt this part of the song, it sounds like a realization to me. They've been this person for so long now that they are believing it themselves now.
It looks easy once they win the Games, but it is really all uphill once the Games are over. They want to be saved from this image Snow has created for them but they can't. This to me is the victor reaching out to someone to help them. Especially when President Snow makes them look like something they aren't and the victor is forced to play along. Victors were never welcome in the districts. There is no room for victors in the districts. To me, this is when the victor returns to their district. President Snow has shaped the victor's images based on what he wants them to be. I think it's talking about them and the images they have become, whether a sign of rebellion like Katniss, or the Capitol's Darling, like Finnick. Particularly the popular ones, like Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick. To me, it's talking about the victors of the Hunger Games. To be honest, I don't think this has to do with peacekeepers or anyone in authority (but who knows, maybe it does). Obviously this is from the Catching Fire soundtrack, so I'll use that.
Taking down names in my book of jealousy. Pushing these boxes in the heat of the afternoon. Picking down talks when the birds get back to me.
